The culmination of UK National Interfaith Week on November 27th saw over 300 hundred people from across different faiths, cultures and backgrounds come together at the London Interfaith Centre for Tunes4Change – a live music night put on by Faiths Act Fellows at Health Poverty Action.
After weeks of preparation, singers, musicians and choirs from across different backgrounds, faiths and cultures came together through their shared passion for music to help raise £1,700 to support Health Poverty Action’s maternal health projects in Sierra Leone. From opera to gospel to traditional Indian music to Bahá’í inspired acapella, the night’s music was diverse. The talented artists took the stage to describe the meaning and inspiration behind their music.
A week before the concert, over 100 youth from across Hindu, Christian, Jewish and secular backgrounds came together to record the Tunes4Change album. As well as these groups, the CD features music from other talented artists from as far as Canada and Sierra Leone. All the profits of the album go towards the maternal and child health initiative in Sierra Leone–helping to save thousands of lives a year.
