FAQs

I would like to support Health Poverty Action’s work financially – what can I do?

There are many ways you can support our work. You can set up a direct debit, or make a one-off donation through this website. If you are feeling a little more active you could get involved in a fundraising event, such as hosting a curry night or even the London Marathon!

I would like to donate money to a specific project – can I do that?

Donations of £1,000 upwards can be given to a specific project. It’s worth remembering that donations towards our work in general are really important for Health Poverty Action. These can be spent where the need is greatest, helping communities that would otherwise have nobody else to turn to.

Does Health Poverty Action provide speakers to talk about its work?

Yes! We are able to provide speakers to give talks and take workshops on a variety of subjects to all kinds of audiences. For more information, get in touch.

Do you only work on healthcare projects?

We believe that a holistic approach is needed to make a difference in the countries where we work. Better healthcare cannot be achieved without reducing poverty, and poverty cannot be eliminated without better healthcare. Therefore our projects focus not only on healthcare but on other issues that affect it such as water sanitation and nutrition.

Why does Health Poverty Action spend money on campaigning?

At Health Poverty Action we believe that we need to tackle the causes of poor health as well as the symptoms. That’s why, as well as working alongside communities to help them access their right to health, we campaign. Campaigning can deliver lasting change for many more people than we could ever hope to help directly.

Does Health Poverty Action work in emergency situations?

In the poor communities where we work, every day is an emergency – a constant fight for life and health against all the odds. The people in these areas might not be featured in global news bulletins very often, but in spite of that – or maybe in part because of it – their struggle for health continues amid problems of emergency proportions every day.

We are committed to doing all that we can, as quickly as we can, to end this unnecessary suffering and prevent these unnecessary deaths.
