‘Choirs for Change School Concert’

18/12/17

An enormous thank you to Ms Nicholls, Mr Meryon and Putney High School for hosting our first ever ‘Choirs for Change Concert’ in their beautiful Performing Arts Centre. ‘Choirs for Change’ is big movement led by choirs across the UK. Each choir multiplies the difference they can make by joining hundreds of singers to raise vital funds. Year on year we are lucky enough to work with choirs in both train stations and tube stations who use their beautiful voices to raise money for our health projects abroad.  These wonderful choirs, give up their mornings, lunchtimes and evenings to sing for us in these cold stations and generously raise thousands of pounds for us.

When Ms Nicholls suggested her school (Putney High School for Girls) support us in a warm concert this year too- we were of course utterly delighted! Together, we invited Rutlish School, Twickenham School, Glendower School, Wimbledon Park Primary School and Holland Park to join us for the evening.

Each school sang beautifully and it was wonderful having an array of ages and musical genres. Performances included; traditional Christmas carols, pop, a cappella, Disney and even excerpts from Faure’s Requiem! Each choir were utterly brilliant and together we managed to raise an incredible £638.07- testament to how amazing all the schools were.

The audience, thoroughly enjoyed all the performances and there was such a lovely Christmassy atmosphere! We are so grateful for the support from these amazing school choirs, as well as all the generous families that joined and donated. We are very much looking forward to letting all the choirs know how the money will be spent supporting healthcare worldwide.

In the meantime, thank you so much to every single school choir, every pupil, every teacher involved and every person that joined us!

Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy new year!

Jessica
