The economic reform programme since 1978 has been the main vehicle for this progress, yet despite these achievements the quick economic growth has not benefited all and inequality is high in China.

Reducing tobacco-related health risks

Health Poverty Action is working with a local partner, Pioneer for Health Consultancy Centre, to improve awareness of the health risks of smoking among women and children, in the remote Yunnan Province in China.
