Looking for a way for your university society to get involved with Health Poverty Action?

We have worked with various university societies to help them organise successful one-off fundraising events.

These include:

  • The Economist Society at UCL organised a “Cook it, buy it, sell it” event where students applied all the knowledge they had gained from classes into practice, as they transformed their culinary ideas into profitable endeavours to raise money for Health Poverty Action.
  • City University planned a Chinese Spring Festival to allow Chinese students to proudly share their culture with the wider community whilst raising money for the malaria programmes Health Poverty Action supports in China.
  • The Queen Mary Theatre Company performed 3 fantastic plays to a packed audience and kindly donated all proceeds to Health Poverty Action.
  • Exeter University’s Biosoc society held a festive-themed pub quiz and donated all the money they raised.

Stuck for ideas? We’ve got the following events coming up in the next academic term if you need some inspiration:

  • Cake sale
  • Poker night
  • Sponsored walks
  • 5 aside tournaments
  • Cinema screening
  • Acapella busking
  • Dance competition
  • Spring Fling Club Night
  • Take me out style event

Any event can be completely tailor made to your society’s preferences and we can personally work alongside you to help make it a success.

Enhance your CV!

Organising a charity one-off event will not only benefit the poor and marginalised people we work with worldwide, but also your students taking part as it encourages team work, promotes personal growth (self esteem, confidence, organisational skills), adds experience to CVs, and gives students a chance to give something back.

96p of every £1 donates to Health Poverty Action goes straight to our work abroad. And what’s more, due to the way we are funded, for every £1 raised by the general public, we are able to raise a further £14 from larger institutional funders. Thus, you can be assured your donation is being spent appropriately.

If you are a society and wish to organise an event for your members on behalf of Health Poverty Action, please do contact Jessica in the fundraising team who could meet with you and discuss possibilities: j.scott@healthpovertyaction.org or 0207 840 3760.
